Now that the copyedits are in, I think it’s safe to call COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN finished, which means it’s time for a “How I Wrote” post breaking down the word count and how long it took to write this book.

Previous “How I Wrote” posts are: How I Wrote Black Heart and How I Wrote Doll…

This is awesome.

I am agog. I can’t even process your organizational skills, Holly. You rock.

See, as Holly is a shining inspiration to me, I started to make lists like this, too.

DAY 1: Totally meant to write but instead found day had disappeared due to tumblr and also marathon of BBC historical dramas. Baby u can leave your cravat ON.

DAY 2: Totally meant to write and did write 200 words, unsure of why so little. In unrelated news made self 15 snacks.

DAY 3: Totally meant to write but new book arrived in post. Read book. Roommate came home. Hid book under sofa cushions. ‘How’s the book going?’ asked roommate. ‘Great!’ I said. TECHNICALLY, not a lie: did not specify which book.

DAY 4: Wrote seven thousand words. In your FACE world in your FACE. I am a genius! These words are gold. I will do this every day from now on. I’ve been up for thirty hours but I don’t care because sleep is a fallactugvabgiquvat!!!!!!!!

DAY 5: Slept in very late. Read over yesterday’s work. Is largely nonsense, just characters talking to each other? Think past self trying to be funny. Do not think past self has what it takes to make it as comedian.

DAY 6: Records discontinued due to shame.

This is also awesome.
